Sugar Baby

December 2nd, 2011

Last night was my demo for Michael’s and I started this new addition for my Eye Candy series, which I finished once I got home.

Sugar Baby – 5″x5″ – Acrylic on canvas- Completed 12/1/11

As soon as I finish typing up this little post I will be heading downtown to the Arts Factory to get my area set up for tonight’s First Friday event. Then, this evening after I get my kids all home from school and have a quick dinner with the family I will be heading back to be with my work during the event. If you happen to be in the Vegas area, swing by between 6 and 10 tonight and say “hi”.

Then, tomorrow afternoon from 2-4 I will be teaching my next Acrylic Workshop at the Michael’s Arts and Crafts store in North Las Vegas. Come by and join us for some fun with paint. It’s only $25 (plus supplies) for the two hour lesson and you’ll walk out with a finished painting.

Now I’m off…

Happy Creating!

sugar baby is so pretty! I agre…where has all the time gone? It is flying by….If I were in your area I would come to your Michael’s class and heckle you.

Do your students come to First Fridays? I think they would love seeing something you demo’d hanging in a show. These last two “candies” have great dimension.

Suz… The drive may be there, but I’m not so sure about the stamina anymore… I wish you could have been in Vegas last night, also. It was a beautiful evening and we had a really great turnout for a December First Friday. Thanks!

Celeste… Thank you! I would love to have you heckling me in my class. Come on by any time!

Hallie… I’ve had a few of my students come by First Friday and I’ve had a few First Friday attendees become students. Regrettably though, where I teach and where I show at First Friday are not very close in proximity. They’re about 20 miles apart which takes a commitment of at least 30 minutes of driving time. Needless to say, that can be a little bit of a deterrent. Thanks.

Sugar Baby is serious yet caring – I see that in her.

I met a professional oil painter the other day, and when I told her that in the back of my mind I was considering painting in oils, she said to consider painting with a palette knife, that it’s tough to muddy the colors that way.
    There you go.

I’d love a lesson (I already have acrylics), so I’ll go wait by the local Michael’s and hope you show up. By the way, is the store named after you? 😉

Dan… I really like your take on Sugar Baby. Thanks! Interesting advice from the oil painter. She’s right, it would be hard to muddy the colors, but learning a new medium while learning to use a knew tool would be a HUGE challenge. I would love for that store to be named after me. Then maybe I could have some input… Oh well…
