Finding a Way

January 12th, 2012

I made a lot of progress on my Ginormous Heart today, but I’m not quite ready to show its status right now. However, I do have something new that I want to share. I was on such a roll today that during downtime on my heart I started on a new Over the Under-Schmeerings painting – and finished it!

Finding a Way – 40″x16″ – Acrylic on canvas – Completed 1/11/12

©2012, Don Michael, Jr.

I just love days when the creative juices are flowing so freely and the paint is flying so fervently. Today was one of those days.

Now I’m wiped out and in need of some rest, so I think I’ll go turn in…

Happy Creating!

What was your inspiration, Don? What is her story? Here’s what I see in her … It reminds me of Fantine in Les Misérables. What a beautiful haunting painting – she is stirring, and I love her.

That’s huge. And I like it a lot.

Kathleen… Thank you! Haunting is a great descriptor, and pretty much what I was going for.

Judy… The mask decided the composition for this one. As soon as I lit her the way I did it felt like she was looking for something. To help her find her way I decided she needed a light – but not just any light. I felt she needed a street light. I kept trying to figure out what she reminded me of, and as soon as you mentioned Les Miserables I realized you were onto something. Cool! Thanks!!!

David… It definitely has a presence with its size. Thanks!
