Stuck Inside My Own Head

June 11th, 2012

People tell me not to worry.

People tell me everything will work out fine.

I look out and see that it’s really not that bad.

I know I’m over-thinking things.

But, still, I’m Stuck Inside My Own Head

Stuck Inside My Own Head – 24″x30″ – Acrylic on canvas – Completed 6/11/12

©2012, Don Michael, Jr.

I must give my eldest son credit for the title of this painting. He once told me during a conversation, “That’s all well-and-good, Dad, but I’m still stuck inside my own head”. From that point on, that very telling phrase has been Stuck Inside My Own Head, ever-waiting to find a way out…

For those that read my last post, my fingers are still crossed. Sometimes what could be very exciting news has to percolate a while – which of course keeps me Stuck Inside My Own Head!

Happy Creating!

    Great inspiration from your son!

The more I look at this the more I see with some very cool symbolism. The window reminds me of cell with the doves ready to be freed. Excellent.

  2. Don Michael, Jr. Said:

Thanks, Kathleen! I’m glad the symbolism ‘punches’ through. :-)

The cell looks more distant than the doves. Hope that’s a good sign of the exciting news :)

Everything you paint has lyrical qualities to me, Don. Your paintings always have deeper meanings… makes me wonder what’s stuck inside my own head too!

There’s something very different about this painting. The paisley-like scarf is wonderful and adds to the mystery.

The first five lines would make a great song.

Me, too, Mark… Me, too… Thanks!

Robin… Thank you! The biggest compliment I can get with my work is when someone tells me it causes them to think. It makes me blush when descriptors such as “lyrical qualities” and “deeper meanings” are ascribed to them as well. Bless you!

Hallie… The Stuck Inside My Own Head song is now rattling around in my brain – basically, it’s stuck inside my own head… And, I have you to thank for it. :-P That paisley scarf was a fun challenge. Isn’t it interesting that somehow it adds a different mood to the painting? Thanks!
